How to update the firmware of Magene Smart Trainer?

a.Download and install the Magene Utility APP on your mobile phone, and turn on the location service and Bluetooth of your phone. 

b. Power on the Magene Smart Trainer. When the indicator light of the Smart Trainer is flashing. 

c. Open the Magene Utility APP, click "Add New Device", then click on the ID code of the Smart Trainer that has been searched, and wait for the connection. 

d. After successful connection, it will automatically jump to the device settings details page, where you can view the device's Serial Number, firmware version, and perform version updates, etc. 

e. If there is new firmware version, there will be update prompt at the bottom of the page. If there is no update prompt, the current vrsion is the latest. (The following figure indicates that there is new firmware version available for update by clicking.)

 Note: During the firmware update of the Smart Trainer, do not switch or exit the mobile phone page.

After connecting the T600Eco Smart Trainer to the bike computer, power and cadence are displayed on the bike computer during cycling, but why isn't the left-right-balance data shown?

  1. Infrared detection not working-Check if the protective film on the infrared cover of the Smart Trainer has been removed. If it hasn't been removed, it will prevent the infrared from detecting normally, thus failing to output left-right balance data.
  2. Firmware version too low-Confirm whether the firmware version of the Smart Trainer is 0.108 or higher. If it is lower than this version, the Smart Trainer firmware needs to be updated.
  3. Connection protocol not supported-The Smart Trainer itself supports left-right balance and pedal smoothness data, but the FEC protocol doesn't have left-right balance field. In the bike computer, you need to use the power meter option, and the bike computer must support the connection and be able to display this field. Reconnect the Smart Trainer using the ANT protocol.
  4. Abnormal connection-You can try unplugging the power of the Smart Trainer and restarting it, then reconnect the bike computer for testing.
  5. Abnormal device hardware-If none of the above methods work, there may be abnormality with the device's infrared cover, and you need to contact the brand for repair service.

The Smart Trainer is successfully connected to the software, but there is no speed and power data during cycling.

  1. The hardware device is not activated or there is anomaly with the hardware device.

    i. Check if the device has been activated. Connect it with the Magene Utility software to confirm. If it hasn't been activated, follow the steps prompted by the software to activate it before use.

    ii. If it has been activated, observe whether Magene Utility can display data normally during actual pedaling.

    1. If there is data: The hardware of the smart trainer is normal, and the problem most likely lies in the settings of the cycling software.

    2.If there is no data, then the speed-measuring module of the smart trainer may be abnormal. Contact the brand to confirm matters regarding repair.

  2. If the hardware settings are normal, then check the settings and compatibility of the cycling software.

i. Check software membership/subscription: Some professional cycling software operates on subscription-based system. If the membership/trial has not been activated, core data such as speed and power will be blocked. You need to recharge in the software for use.

ii. Check if the connection method is wrongly selected.

Select the real smart trainer (Bluetooth/ANT+ with speed/power indication), delete the old connection, and search and pair with the smart trainer again.

iii. The smart trainer device and the software have not been adapted, and the protocols do not match.

Currently, the smart trainer supports the standard ANT+ protocol and the standard Bluetooth FTMS protocol. If the protocols are not compatible, contact both manufacturers to negotiate for adaptation.

Why can't the Smart Trainer be searched and connected by the bike computer or software

  1. Hardware connection and device status check (smart trainer and adapter)

i. Check the status of the adapter indicator light after connecting the adapter to the smart trainer and powering it on:

  1. If the indicator light is flashing or off: Most likely, it is problem with the adapter. Replace it with adapter of the same model and specification and try again.
  2. If the indicator light is constantly on: Proceed to the next step.

ii. Check the status of the smart trainer indicator light (when the adapter indicator light is constantly on)

  1. If the smart trainer indicator light is off
  1. For self-generating smart trainers: When there is no external power supply, pedal for while and observe whether the indicator light turns on.

    i. If it turns on: There is abnormality with the smart trainer interface. The power interface on the smart trainer needs to be repaired or replaced.

    ii. If it still doesn't turn on: Most likely, there is abnormality with the mainboard. The mainboard needs to be repaired or replaced.

  2. For non-self-generating smart trainers: Check whether the power supply to the smart trainer is normal and whether the interface is loose.
  1. If the smart trainer indicator light is on, observe the status of the Bluetooth indicator light

a. If the red light is constantly on or flashing, turn off the power, let it stand for 10 minutes, then power it on again. If it remains the same, most likely there is abnormality with the smart trainer mainboard, and the mainboard needs to be repaired or replaced.

b. If the blue light is constantly on: It means the smart trainer is already connected to other devices. Check the connections of nearby mobile phones/software, or turn off the power of the smart trainer for 15 minutes and then power it on again.

c. If the blue light is flashing: It means the smart trainer is in pair-able state. Most likely, there is no problem with the smart trainer itself. Proceed to the software/bike computer check.

  1. Bike computer/software-side check (when there is no abnormality with the smart trainer hardware)

i. Protocol compatibility confirmation-Magene smart trainers support the standard ANT+ protocol and the standard Bluetooth FTMS protocol. Please confirm:

  1. Whether the bike computer/software supports the connection to the smart trainer device.
  2. Whether the connection protocol supported by the bike computer/software matches that of the smart trainer (such as ANT+ or Bluetooth FTMS).

ii. Software settings and permission check-If the protocols are compatible, check the mobile phone/software settings:

  1. Confirm that the Bluetooth, location information, and other permissions of the software have been enabled (some software requires location permission to search for devices).
  2. Turn off and then turn on the Bluetooth of the smart trainer and the mobile phone/software, and search for connection again.
  3. Try restarting the bike computer/software.
  1. Supplementary

Confirm whether the distance between the smart trainer and the bike computer/software is too far, or if there is signal interference (such as other Bluetooth devices, WiFi, etc.).

The activation of the Magene Smart Trainer using Magene Utility fails, and it usually prompts that the geographical location does not match.

Reason: Magene Smart Trainer come in different version.Specifically, devices of the Chinese mainland version can only be activated and used in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao. Devices of the international version can only be activated and used in regions other than the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Solution: The version of the device cannot be changed, and it can only be activated and used in the corresponding region. Please contact the purchase channel of the Smart Trainer to confirm the device source and version. If you have purchased international version device and are overseas but still cannot activate it successfully, please provide the activation email and the device's Serial Number to Magene's official channels for troubleshooting.

How to activate and use Magene Smart Trainer devices?

  1. Download and install the Magene Utility APP on your mobile phone. Turn on the location service and Bluetooth of your phone.
  2. Power on the Magene Smart Trainer. When the Bluetooth indicator light of the Smart Trainer is flashing blue.
  3. Open the Magene Utility APP, click "Add New Device", then click on the ID code of the Smart Trainer that has been searched, and wait for the connection.
  4. For unactivated device, page will pop up after successful connection. Please enter the activation email and verification code as prompted by the software to activate it.
  5. After successful activation, disconnect the Smart Trainer from the Magene Utility, and then select your commonly used cycling software or bike computer to connect to the Smart Trainer for use.
